Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President, Chris established and leads RPA’s global financial inclusion practice, working with key donors such as the Bill & Melinda Gates and MetLife Foundations, the Omidyar Network and USAID.  In his 17 years with RPA, he has played significant roles in designing and implementing the organization’s strategy, building its professional capacity and deepening its institutional and donor networks.  He is a frequent presenter on topics such as financial inclusion, family philanthropy, trends in philanthropy and effective giving strategies.

Previously a Program Officer at the Ford Foundation, Chris’s work focused on collaboration among the nonprofit, corporate and public sectors to reduce rural poverty.  He developed, structured and managed Program-Related Investments (PRIs) and co-chaired chair of the foundation’s Affinity Group on Development Finance, an 11-country research and grantmaking collaborative. Prior to joining Ford, Chris led the nonprofit Economic Development Council of Northern Vermont between 1978 and 1992.

Chris chairs the board of Communities Unlimited, a nonprofit organization that helps poor communities in seven states of the mid-South to develop safe drinking water, adequate housing, rural transportation systems and consumer financial services. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees
