John BaePhilanthropic Advisor
John works with RPA’s Advisory team on the Art for Justice Fund, an RPA sponsored project. In this role, he works closely with all internal and external stakeholders to manage the program, provide fund governance and oversight, and participate in donor development and stewardship. As a part of the Advisory team, John also participates in other client engagements advising clients on their grantmaking and other philanthropic activities.
Before joining RPA in spring 2018, John Bae was with the Vera Institute of Justice, where he led technical assistance for Vera’s national public housing project as well as college-in-prison programs in California, Florida, Oregon, and Washington State. Prior to Vera, John worked at College Initiative, where he led a team to provide support for justice-involved college students in New York City.
John holds a BA and an MA in criminal justice from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and teaches courses in corrections at CUNY Borough of Manhattan Community College. He spends his free time engaged in various activities related to criminal justice reform, but mostly with his Shiba Inu, Sophie.
